I'm Thinking of Ending Things by Iain Reid
Trigger Warnings: suicide

realistically i need to reread this, but here is the one thing i Do remember:

- i read this after watching its movie adaptation thats on netflix. personally i like the books ending more than the movies, but also the movies ending is literally desgined you make you google what its meaning is LOL

The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka
Trigger Warnings: body horror, neglect/abuse

huge caveat: i dont really care about "classic" literature. i enjoyed the themes behind this book more than i did actually reading it. it is fairly horrific still though, and reading it through a lense of (this is what i kept thinking about while reading) disability/mental illness making you a burden on your family and how that could transform them was very um. heavy. to put it simply. i dont want to go too deeply into themes and dissections, i think what i have to say is pretty basic; but theres many sorts of metamorphosis in this book. some are blatant, or bad, or taking backseat to more pressing matters (and ultimately good), but they are changes nonetheless. a lot of the horror in this comes from something being forced upon you and being punished for it anyways
